The International Trade and Transport Statistics Unit is primarily responsible for the collection of foreign trade and transport statistics within the NSO’s Economic Statistics Directorate A. The main functions of the unit comprise the compilation and integration of Extrastat and Intrastat data from different sources that are necessary for the preparation of International Trade Statistics, process, validate and synthesize collected data into appropriate formats for regular monthly publications and annual reports and regular data transmissions to Eurostat.
Concurrently, the transport section collect and base its statistical output on administrative data supplied by Transport Malta , the Police Department and the Guard and Warden Services Limited.
